39th Annual Sears Invitational Guidelines

Closing date is: October 31, 2025.
- Notification: Nov. 17
Entries: Artists may submit up to 3 works, with a maximum of 2 pieces accepted for the exhibition.
- Each art piece needs to be a separate entry.
- You can change each entry up until the close date of October 31, 2025.

Selection: Approximately 100 artists / 200 works will be chosen to participate by the jury.

Eligibility: Artists based in the American West are eligible, with priority given to those from Utah, Idaho, Colorado, and Nevada.

Please note, artists outside Utah will need to cover round-trip shipping costs.

39th Annual Sears Invitational Art Show & Sale Submission Policy

Eligibility

Open to all artists aged 18 and above.
Geographic restrictions: artists based West of the Mississippi River.

Submission Guidelines

Accepted mediums: Oil, watercolor, acrylic, miscellaneous media, mixed media, photography, sculpture, ceramics, and digital art.
Maximum size: 48 x 48 inches.
Maximum weight: 50 lbs. (2D art)
Up to 3 submissions per artist; maximum of 2 submissions accepted.
All works must be original.
All works must be created within the calendar year of submission submission dates (Jan. 2024-Oct. 2025).

Required information: artist's name, email, phone number, title of work, medium, dimensions, year of creation, artist statement, art transportation method.
File format: JPEG or PNG, maximum 10 MB per file.

Fees

No fees to enter.

Deadlines

Submission deadline: October 31, 2025, at 11:59 PM.
Notification date: November 17, 2025.

Selection Process

Selected by a panel of expert judges.
Criteria: originality, technical skill, salability.

Exhibition Details

Exhibition dates: February 14-March 28, 2026.
Venue: Sears Art Museum at Utah Tech University, St. George, UT.
Utah artists – free pickup and drop-off will be provided.
Non-Utah artists – responsible for shipping to and from museum, and insurance.

Sales and Commissions

All artworks must be available for purchase during the exhibition.
UT Sears Art Museum commission: 40% of sale price.

Publicity and Promotion

The exhibition will be promoted through our website, social media, and press releases.
By submitting, artists grant permission to use images of their work for promotional purposes.

Legal Considerations

Artists retain copyright of their works.
By submitting, artists agree to the terms and conditions of this policy.
